Anyone ever use ricochet? - 22/04/2003 14:18

Apparently, Verizon is backing out of Colorado completely, and I am out of a phone line and DSL. Before I bite the bullet and go with Qwest DSL as my broadband service ( ), I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried ricochet? It could be an alternative...

It was reactivated in New York after 9/11, and then a new company was formed to buy stuff and has reactivated at least 2 cities.

I used their service for 3 or 4 months when my ISP went out of business (apartment complex that had a shared T1 throgh some small ISP) and I couldn't get DSL or cable. Definitely better than dialup, but pretty slow compared to DSL, etc. The mobility is nice though. At the time I had the service I was telecommuting one day a week and some of the time I would take the ricochet and my laptop and work from a coffee shop or a friends house.

The service and coverage where both pretty good although they always disconnected me every four hours so to use it as an always on connection was a little more tricky.
