Remove all traces from registry - 08/05/2003 06:54

I installed Ulead DVD Factory 2 the other week and its started to go crazy and won't burn anything anymore. I've tried removing it and reinstalling it, but it seems to keep the settings etc.

How can I totally remove all traces from the drive? Including the registry?

Norton Cleansweep will look through the registry and sometimes find unused entries. But it does much better if it was around when the program was installed.

You could run regedit and just do a search for "Ulead" or something, and delete anything that looks like it's related. After backing up the registry, of course....

You can roll back to a previous registry but this does depend on what you've changed since then.

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore

Only if he's on WinMe or WinXP....

Yeah its XP, and I've tried going back to when its firstb installed, but its still screwy, so maybe its not the problem.

I also tried regedit, but after 30 mins I was still finding ulead entries and I was only 10% through!

I never said it would be easy.

A program that I have used to clean the registry is called "Reg Vac" It seemed to work well for me. Easily found on the web.
