Check out this great pop-up ad I just hit with;

The irony is that I'm running Mozilla 1.0 on Linux.....with 384MB. It got it *completely* wrong.

Well, you did notice it says:
If your computer is like the average computer represented in the random test sampling above ...
right?

Re: Irony. - 22/05/2003 13:44

Well, I didn't read *that* closely. It's an Ad. for Gawd's sake.

Anyway, I have a problem with the whole concept of an 'average' computer. Wouldn't that be running MicroHatle WinduxacOs ?

Besides I've just notice the 'memory usage'...they couldn't even make their lies match.

Right after Alanis's song hit the billboard one of the editors of Webster's Dictionary wrote an article on how the use of the word ironic was terminally screwed. Misuse by millions becomes use.

</me scurries to find article>

Re: Irony. - 22/05/2003 14:03

No the irony is that while the Ad is telling me that I've passed a number of 'tests' (which I haven't), the one 'test' that it claims that I've failed I haven't.

Oh, who cares anyway, I never was very good at English.

But in the meantime, there is a very funny (and alledgedly ironic) story here

I knew it was ironic really.

Just wanted to hear you justify it - and you managed it in one sentence. Full marks.
