Free Asp / Sql webhosting?

No, this isn't one of those spam's you receive every day......

It's probably a daft request but I'm looking for a (preferably free) hobbyist/(very) low bandwidth Asp & Sql hosting service.

The host/domain name isn't important at all and the bandwidth will be under 1mb/month I recon. I simply want to create a shared data repository (sub 1mb database) for myself and 2 others to share. I appreciate that a php/MySql based solution might be easier (and cheaper) to secure but Asp/Sql is the clincher for me since I'm familiar with them.

I could just about live with banner ad's but popups would be a major PITA, any suggestion pls?

I can talk to a friend of mine that has a hosting service and see what he can do. He might be able to give you a small amount of space and limited bandwidth for free.

Also checkout Webhostingtalk forums. I searched a little bit, but didn't see anything near free with ASP support. Seems like about $8 per month is a common price for a low badwidth site.

Well, it looks like he doesn't have any NT/IIS (or anything that can do ASP) boxes available. I'd guess that your best bet is to go with one of the "cheap" web-hosting places that have been pointed out in this thread.

Not sure if there are any free sites here, but this is the page I stumbled on when I was looking for pay hosts which led me to the one I use:

Thanks for trying, and thanks to Rob for the links as well.

Perhaps i've missed something but I think those links were for PHP/MySQL hosting anyhow - perhaps some alter-being is trying to give me a 'hint' to stop using MS products?!

I'm sure it wouldn't kill me to learn Php/MySql but since I'm currently assigned an IIS5/Sql Server project at work I hoped this 'slight' hobbyist project would provide some overlap with benefits both ways, perhaps though, I do need to get a grip with the former?

Yeah, just as a little more incentive, if you went with PHP/MySQL I could give you space and access to your own DB on one of my domains for free.
