Why I have been busy

Why I have been busy - 04/06/2003 15:25

In no particular order:

E3

Joys of business trips

Warmer weather

My first house

Gods showing up in Shadowbane

And some health problems. I have an appointment on June 12th to have a neurologist look over some MRIs, after an incident back in March that caused my left eye to literially bulge out a bit for a week. (No pictures of that one :-)

I am slowly getting caught up here, the last time the BBS showed no new messages for me was April 13h.

I like the "early lollapalooza" stylings of your master bath... The urban wilderness meets suburban utopia design of the house address is both functional and hip.

Seriously though... Nice digs. I wish I had gone new contrustion instead of my 1953 money-pit.

Welcome back Tom. Congrats on the house.

Hope everything is going to be all right. You were truly missed on this board.

Is your house the one in the foreground or background? ;-)

Warmer weather

Not any more. Here in Denver, it's low 50's. It always seems to get cold, or rainy towards the weekend, or whenever I want to go mountain biking. I did get to go to the AMA Superbike Race last weekend in your neck of the woods (Pikes Peak)...

If your 1953 is a money-pit, then my 1892 is a money-black-hole.
Can I tell you how much I hate plaster and lathe?

"where do you want me to hang the picture, honey?
About here? OK."

And dont even get me started on 100 year old cast iron plumbing!

Not sure about cast iron plumbing but I've been in a house that had lead piping. Every morning you'd have to run the taps before using it to make sure any dissolved lead was flushed out...

Here? OK.

That's why living on chalk is a great idea -- all the limescale coats the pipes, and the lead can't leach out .

I did a bit of looking, and never found a place that could best this particular deal. New builders here in Colorado Springs are really desperate right now to make a sale, so I'm walking away with about $5,000 woth of upgrades free, plus some nice finance deals. All with a price comparable to similar sized used houses in the area.

I also got my closing date yesterday. July 18th, same day as my birthday.

Well, I am finally holding the keys to the above house, and most of my old place is packed and waiting to be moved.

Seems like it has been forever since I started shopping around. But it's such a good feeling to finally have signed the last piece of paper to get it.

I'll post more pictures here shortly. iPhoto has a bit over 100 photos in it from the construction.
