A co-worker here wants to use an image that’s currently embedded in a pdf file. Anyone know how he can copy it from the file, or if it’s even possible?

Open the PDF in Photoshop and then cut it out of there.

The *nix xpdf package includes a pdfimages command, which claims to be a Portable Document Format (PDF) image extractor.
Available on most modern Linux distros, and also in source code for other capable operating systems.
