Californians - Best tri-tip in Santa Maria? - 23/10/2003 22:26

Hi, I'm headed up the coast tomorrow and am gonna be in Santa Maria around 2. I've cruised the 'net trying to find a recommendation for the best tri-tip bbq restaurant there, but the few places that are recommended open at 4, after I'll be gone. Most restaurant reviews from Santa Maria seem to avoid any place that serves tri-tip... don't know why...

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Larry

Go to Rohnert Park, at Porter Street BBQ. HAHA way out of the way but best Tri Tip I have had anywhere. Just wanted to share.

The Volvo 1800 club of Rohnert Park is the best Volvo club in the usa, but that is a bit of a stretch from Santa Maria. I'll be sure to try the Porter Street BBQ next time I'm up that way, tho... Thanks!

We ended up getting the tri-tip at a street vendor. It was really good.

A certain cut of beef, prepared a certain way.

Tastes like something between roast beef and steak.

It is.

Our local grocery store barbeques tri-tip daily, and keeps them in special containers in a heated display. The idea is that if you go shopping on the way home in the evenings, you can bring home a hot dinner at the same time. Even this "mass produced" kind of tri-tip is delicious.

You could Google for it...

You have Richardson's there, they probably don't have Tri-tip, but they have many other kinds of seared meat. Very good place... nothing like it here...

A beef tri-tip roast is a boneless cut of meat from the bottom sirloin... Ask the butcher for one.

Ya its oooohh so good too. I honestly don't think I could die knowing I haven't eaten a tri tip sandwich with BBQ sauce slopped all over it.
