900 MHZ 2 line phones - 30/01/2004 00:44

Anybody know where new old stock of 900 MHZ 2 line phones with answering machines can be found? The morons in the marketing departments of cordless phone manufacturers decided that ONLY 2.4 GHZ phones that don't play nicely with WiFi networks are worthy of such a feature set. What was wrong with 900 MHZ? The range is better and it doesn't interfere with anything. The same morons in marketing also don't deem it necessary to offer a 5.8 GHZ phone with 2 line capability and answering machine.

After exhaustive searches on eBay and the Internet I've come up empty handed. Every online store that claims to stock them follows up with an out of stock e-mail a few days after I place the order.

Very frustrating!

froogle.google.com had a few hits from yahoo-shop type places, but nothing too reputable. Overstock.com has a 2 line 900mhz phone, but it doesn't have an answering machine, but you could always get one that wasn't built in, which in the long run might be better as answering machines seem to last longer than cordless phones, at least how I use them.

Try searching Froogle for a Vtech VT-2960. There are several there. I've used one for years and it's a surprizingly good phone for the price.

Now I'm looking for a 4 line cord with answering maching...

Thanks guys. I overlooked Froogle, so I'll try that. I really want a new phone as I haven't had the best of luck with second hand ones. Last night I ordered a Panasonic KX-TC1891B for the 4th time through a Yahoo Stores vendor. Lets see if they have it.

You might want to check out catalog.google.com, which I think is a better resource than froogle.

Euuu... I had that Panasonic, aside that it has a pathetically short battery life and that I can't leave the room the base station is in, it's an ok phone.

Too bad too, as I need a 4 line cordless now, and Panasonic is about the only game in town. Still, it needs to work...

My current Panasonic 900MHz cordless phone / digital answering machine has been misbehaving recently and will likely need to be replaced. Like you, I have zero desire for a 2.4GHz phone. Please do post when you've found something, and I'll probably buy the same thing (or, a single-line version, if they have it in stock).
