OK, now
this is REALLY cool. SMS Google a query like "pizza 87109" and it'll send you listings for pizza places in that zip. This has to be the coolest google service I've seen in a long time. You can also get residential listings, Froogle listings, word definitions, and of course search results.

Yeah, i was playing with this earlier. So cool. I got all excited and went to show Kelly who is always leery when i get excited about geeky things... especially when it involves SMSing Google. haha. But she was super impressed. It does dome damn cool things. Now i just have to remember to use it when an instance comes up where it could be useful!

Yeah, it is very impressive. I have a feeling I'll be using this a bunch inplace of calling directory assistance because for one it's free, and it's a lot faster than trying to connect with those operators who can't even find the number half the time.

Hmm. I sent a help query via SMS as instructed and got no response. Anyone else been successful in using it?

I love the idea of wandering around my local Frys or Best Buy, compare prices on the nice cheap Seagate 160G HD then showing the PITA saleguy that he is not the best price.
Very nice being able to prove you can get something cheaper elsewere.

EDIT: just slow. it works. how cool! give you a week before someone makes an app for the Treo to harness this.

Apparently, my mobile provider (Virgin) doesn't support the 5-digit short codes.
