Can anyone explain why they're running invites anymore? I can't believe there's more people wanting invites than people who have them. I still have the fifty they gave every member recently. Anyone want some?

They've got 471,820 here:

Not sure how long they last in their system though.

I just got an account a few weeks ago, but don't see any way to give anyone an invite.

That being said, if I had known you could get Pop3 access on this (and the huge attachment sizes they offer) I would have begged someone for one a long time ago! 10MB isn't exactly huge, but my hosting company for my web site limits me to 5mb.

You could have just told me you wanted one.

Really? It should be right on the main page there. There's a little blue box on mine that says "Invite a Friend."

I'm going to check out that POP3 thing. What do you mean by POP3 access?

Pop3 access would mean you can check the messages from something like outlook or another stand alone email program. I remember reading in the message when they started pop3 that you would have to pay for it after the beta is over so I never started using it.

It says this in the Help:

"POP access is free for all Gmail users and we have no plans to charge for it in the future."

So.. do they stuff email messages with adverts? Or how are they generating revenue from it with POP3 allowed??

I see no ads in my Gmail email that I have recieved thru Pop3.

And 'cos my phone is a PITA when connecting to gmail, I use pop to forward it to my phone. works great.

p.s. I have 49 more invites - if anyone is desperate:-)

I swear I would pay for GMail if I could check my POP3 email with it. I just can't limit myself to one email address. With my own domain, I have as addresses at my domain as I want. I would switch over to GMail right now if I could check my POP3 mail with it, and if I could import my current mail into it (I hear you can do that, but it didn't sound very fool-proof or elegant to me).
