Help!

A CD burner that worked just fine all along was merrily copying a CD using Easy CD Copier (Roxio) and got a blue screen as the CD finished (I think it completed anyways, the copy seems to work fine).

Now the burner cannot detect blank CDs. It will detect and burn DVD's just fine. I downloaded new firmware and installed Adaptec's ASPI stuff and still no go. I used the Manufacturer's drive testing software and it wouldn't let me proceed until I inserted a blank disc (blank cd no workie!), I popped in a DVD and all tests worked fine.

According to Sony's website I should restart and select Last Known Good as my boot option. Fine... but shouldn't there be somethign that can be fixed instead?? Something has to have gotten corrupted. What is it???

Burner is a Sony DRU-530A 4x DVD burner.
Computer is a clone with XP Service Pack 2 on it.

Any thoughts??

Ok, so now I've ran system restore and gone back in time. Still no go. Can't even read CDs now.

Is this thing toast???

I would guess the drive is bad. Do you have another computer you could try it in ?
