RSS Rocks - 29/03/2006 13:10

Today I converted all my eBay "favorite searches" over to RSS feeds that I can now track in my RSS reader. I think eBay started the RSS stuff this week, I think this rocks. Now instead of getting an e-mail alert per day, I can set the polling rate to 1 hour and see any new auctions within the hour for my favorite searches. I usually search for any empeg related stuff, and am currently in the market for a rear cargo cover for my car, so I just set up those searches and away I go.

Also, you can get RSS feeds from the Empeg Wiki special pages. Anytime a new article is written or one modified, I get alerted through the RSS reader. Any other cool RSS type feeds that you've found that are especially useful?

Okay, I've spent the last five minutes looking for how to change my favorite searches into RSS feeds. Got a link?

Edit: Oh. I see. I have to do the actual search and then there's an RSS link down at the bottom. I was trying to configure it in my saved searches.

eBay e-mailed/RSS favorite searches are nice, but they seem to be missing some depth. You can save searches to My eBay which search "title and listing", but e-mailed/RSS only searches title. Am I missing something, because this really hurt my fine detail searching, which I ended up doing by hand twice weekly.

No, they don't give a ton of detail, but the RSS feeds were just released. I expect that in the future they might release more functionality. What extra features do you need that the e-mail or RSS feeds do not supply?

From the RSS help site on eBay:

Quote:
Initially this feature will not support all search parameters available through Advanced Search pages. In the next few days we will include on this page a full list of unsupported filters.
