Tuckerman Ravine Saturday April 8 - 04/04/2006 19:42

On the off chance that anyone here's interested and wants to join the wintry fun, I'll be hiking and skiing Tuckerman Ravine on Mt. Washington this weekend. Even if you don't ski, it's one hell of a spectacle watching those who do, or sort of do, or sled, or slide, or fall or....

If you have no idea what I'm talking about there's TimeforTuckerman.

Some of my photos from last year are here.

Meet up is approx 8AM at Pinkham Notch. PM me if interested.

dude, I would so be there if my knee wan't messed up!

This makes the second year in a row that wasn't able to go because of some silly physical ailment and I'm not happy about it.

Have fun though, it's always a damn good time!

Pins and Needles - 05/04/2006 00:14

What is that, a toe or a finger? and I thought they stuck the pins in through the ends.

At least that's what they did to a buddy of mine who ran 4 fingers on his left hand thru a v-belt pully. He was about 6weeks with his hand wrapped in bandages to immobilize the fingers. Just the tips visible with 2 little wires poking out the end of each. He said the most fun part was when the pins were pulled out - a pair of pliers and a swift jerk. One per wire. They came out easy, till they got to the one he bent while it was in the finger.

Doug - Snowmobiles? Psah, that's nothing. Have you heard about yak skiing? Can caribou be harnessed? Just thinking out loud here...

Mark-give in to the steep side...what are those crampons for anyway? There must be a geocache someplace near Pinkham, if not I think you need to start one. Joe Cote may also be joining us for the hike up to the ravine. Off chance you might know him through the climbing community.

ithoughti - OWCH! I was going to complain about my little soft tissue injury on my right knee, but after seeing that I think I'll keep my little wimpers to myself.

thats a top-down view of my left index finger. I destroyed the knuckle and tore off the tendon. You can see the tiny screw that is currently holding the tendon back in place. I had bone grafted onto the knuckle and had that crazy contraption on the outside of my hand for 6 weeks. Not to mention the pins stuck all the way through the bone.
