Can't imagine anyone here keeps poultry but whether you do or not there's inevitably going to be a lot of sensationalising in the media now that we've got it. Some of the Downsizer crew have put together a Bird Flu Basics guide:

Downsizer's Bird Flu Basics

There's a fair few poultry keepers on board and a few scientists too so hopefully there'll be plenty of sensible discussion and advice to be had, if anyone has any specific concerns please pop over.

I've wanted to get some chickens for a couple years now. The wife has been reluctant and frankly I've been too busy to build a coop.

I still might get some eventually but if I do they will be in an enclosed area so that other birds can not enter.

I was going to get some a few weeks ago, free range in an orchard, won't be doing that yet. Thinking of sheep now.
