"One Second Theater" - interesting use of technology - 26/02/2007 00:12

Commercials for General Electric are now employing an interesting use of technology. One Second Theater sacrifices one second of a commercial to show 30 individual frames of content. It's intended for curious DVR users to scroll to that second and flip through the 30 slides.

That's a clever use of technology. For now, it's non-invasive - view it if you want. Let's hope we don't start seeing "900 Frame Theater" in the future.

<edit> Reminds me of those few frames early on in Fight Club where Tyler was spliced in. Only easily viewed with DVD.

They did this well over 10 years ago in a childrens TV show, it was called 'The Data Blast' which you were supposed to record on your VCR and use the frame advance button. Assuming you could read through the static and not wear the heads out on your parents VCR it worked quite well.
