I just had to post here and recommend this movie. It's a beautiful film and I can't speak highly enough about it. Plus, it has Nathan Fillion in a great role, and he gets a ton of laughs. I would write more about it, but my words couldn't do it justice.

So I hope you'll seek it out if you can. It was only playing at two theaters in my area, but I drove half an hour to see it and was not disappointed in the least.

Thanks for the recommendation. The trailer makes it look good, almost like Amelie in some ways. Nathan looks like he's very funny.

did you hear about what happened to the director, Adrienne Shelly?

murdered at her apartment building by a construction worker. Tragic stuff.

Yeah, heard about that. Unfortunately that's how I heard about the movie a few months ago.

It really hits you when you watch the movie and see her part in it. She's wonderful. I want to go back and watch her Hal Hartley movies now.

Finally got a chance to see this one. It was playing at The Big Picture in Redmond, a nifty place that's a full bar with a decent-sized movie theater. I drank rum and pineapple juice while watching.

Great, great movie.

One thing made me uncomfortable, though. Nathan (doctor whatzizname) played it like he would have instantly run off to the ends of the earth with the pie lady, practically seconds after meeting her. As if he'd been dumbstruck by love and was willing to throw everything away for it. I said to myself "men aren't that dumb." And then I realized... oh yeah, that's right, they are.
