Nice... Two Nikon D700s mounted together using a custom frame. Left camera is upside down, camera shutters electronically linked. Lenses physically racked together for simultaneous focus zoom. I'm pretty sure that's the zoom ring that's racked, the focus rings being nearer the front of the lenses. I suppose this could be set up with auto-focus on a single overlapping spot to make sure both lenses are matched.

My uncle recently found and gave me a Stereo Realist that my grandfather owned. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

I have the Kodak version of that.

The trick to getting the processing done is to take it to any fast/cheap place that's got one of those automated developing / printing machines. The cutters can be turned off such that you'll get a long strip back for both the negatives and pictures. Just cut up the picture strips and glue them to cardboard.

Most of the time the operator/dolt won't know how to turn the cutters off.

Isn't this the same guy who developed it further with macro lenses and a laser spot trigger for the shutters? If so, he has an awesome rig for shooting insects in flight at extreme close up - basically the idea is that the setup is focused on a particular spot, and the laser rangefinder just waits for something to enter that spot and shoots it in stereo.
