Neat keychain camera

Thought this toy might be of interest - basically it's a keychain video/still camera made in China from rejected mobile phone parts, with the mobile phone firmware hacked together to make it work just as a camera. A bit flakey it seems, but the price is right - from $9 inc. shipping.

I have one in the post and will report back.

The CPUs used are designed for usage in media players and cheap digital cameras not mobile phones.

Neat but it does seem a bit hit & miss about what of many different variants you get! Some of them are good with some tweaking but others are a completely different design and bad.

75% of the stuff I have bought from DX has been complete crap an not worked.

Yeah, I've been very careful with my purchases there. I've been pretty lucky so far. I was actually pleased with the calipers I got.

The USB temperature sensor, USB FM tuner and a few other useless bits of rubbish ended up getting binned. I've stopped ordering from them.

"Tiny pin-hole camera hidden inside a camera"? Why of course -- it's the last place they'd look!

Make that 100% for me....

YMMV, but I haven't had anything from DealExtreme not work as expected. Knock on wood I suppose.

I'm getting about a 10% failure rate with DX stuff.
