How to make Google.com my internet home page

I want to have Google.com as my internet home page.

My computer (or Google, or Firefox, or my ISP, or Tony Fabris, or someone) has decided that since my ISP is in Mexico, I really want Google.com.mx as my home page.

I don't want Google Mexico, I want just plain Google.

I have gone to Control Panel --> Internet Options --> General and set Google.com as my default. I have tried the trick of Google.com/ncr to no avail. (Maybe that's for Internet Explorer only; I use Firefox.)

Google Chrome browser also sends me irretrievably to Google.com.mx.

Internet Explorer works properly.

If I type Google.com as my URL, it takes me to Google.com.mx. I can't even get to just plain Google.com manually.

What do I have to do to make this work the way that I want?

The same thing happens if you're in Canada, and I guess any other country where Google has a local portal.

Bottom right corner - link to Google.com - it should be persistent, until you clear cookies.

Wow! That worked, so simple! How do you guys know this sort of stuff? I fought with that for the better part of an hour, found nothing on Google except complaints from lots of other people with the same problem but no solutions.

BTW, it was clearing my cookies (see other thread ) that set up this problem.

I really hate when websites decide your language and other related settings based on your IP address.

Amazon (once more) does it right. It asks. And usually remembers what your decision is.
Ironically, that's the one site I usually want to be .it, not .com .

UPS asks too. I like that.
