Art theft?

Art theft? - 21/07/2018 03:56

I ran across something weird this week. I was perusing IMDb and saw a poster for as short film. Initially, I thought it was a feature adaptation of one of my favorite comics, but no. It just looks like someone cribbed the entire cover of the comic Daytripper for their short film, and it's bizarre. I simply don't see how it's a coincidence.

The comic, by the way, came out in 2010 and the short in 2015. Does anyone here know if, perhaps, they're both referring to an earlier work? It's either that, theft, or a coincidence. The latter seems unlikely given that they even use the same exact color gradient from blue to pink to orange. It's crazy...

Does this style look familiar to anyone here?

Perhaps a deliberate homage?
