Webcasting Resources - 28/01/2002 18:26

Hello all

I have a large collection of mp3's now (as we all do ) I would like to share them by setting up a webcast/ live stream from my home computer. I have looked on the 'net but found that there didn't seem to be much info on the method of setting a home webcast up or the software required. Are there any experienced people out there that could offer some insight or point me in the right direction? Thanks -

John

Check out Live365. It functions as a redirector, which will lessen the bandwidth needed to support many users. It has good docs for what you need to set up. (Edit: turns out that Live365 is charging these days. Oh, well.)

If you want to do it all on your own, I'd suggest investigating ShoutCast. Do a search on Google. There are many different implementations, and since I don't know what OS you're using, I hesitate to start suggesting.

Thanks for your info...

I am running WinXP home edition on a PIII 1 GHz with 1 Gb of RAM. I have broadband access.

Just head over to Shoutcast.com. That's at least the easiest place to start to get it set up initially.
