Anyone tried this? - 07/02/2002 23:40
I have been wanting a way to listen to the audio from my computer on my stereo (including alert sounds) both in the same room as the computer and in other rooms in the house. I want to do it with wireless.
One possible way is to get a digital SPDIF output card for the computer and route the coaxial digital signal to a video transmitter. On the stereo end would be a video receiver and a D/A converter. In this way I could get sound just as it is from the computer anywhere in the house. I've actually tried this between two digital tape decks and an X-10 video transmitter/receiver set and it worked, but only to 10 feet. I'm going to try to improve the range. Has anyone else tried something like this?
