RMA-ing a Karma from the UK to the USA

RMA-ing a Karma from the UK to the USA - 23/02/2004 04:06

I don't seem to have a lot of luck with portable hard drives! My poor empeg(s) have gone through three and now my Rio Karma's hard drive died after a month of use

I need some help with the proper procedure to use here. I bought the unit from the US via my ex, who lives in PA. She bought the device onilne and sent it to me in the UK. Now it's broken, and the UK's RMA procedure is "send it back to the dealer".

What should I be doing so as not to confuse the Rio? Emailing Rio in the US? I presume they'll be reluctant to ship a Karma all the way to the UK for me, won't they? Anyone have any experience of these kind of shenanigans?

Be really friendly to your ex in hopes that she'll return it for you?

Do you have the receipt for the online retailer that it was purchased from?

I think my ex has the receipt. Will I need this for the RMA?

I do not know. But (with the receipt) someone in the US could have tried to return it for you.

I sent some emails, but after a week of waiting it seems the telephone is definitely the way to go! I got an RMA by explaining my situation: an American purchase, but abroad now. I gave the US address I used for the original delivery as the return address and I now have an RMA and a place to send the poor broken Karma.

I can't see myself getting a replacement this side of midsummers night, though!
