Problems installing Audio Receiver Manager

Problems installing Audio Receiver Manager - 18/05/2001 15:18

I've just received 3 Dell Digital Audio Receivers and am having problems installing the Audio Receiver Manager on a Win2k Server. Installshield errors on "setup failed to launch installation engine: Access is denied", it does this on both versions 1.01 and 1.03 of the Manager software. Does anyone know how to fix this or how I can copy it from another machine onto this one (I have the Manager running OK on a Win98 machine).

Thanks

Just a guess, but are you installing as the administrator? Or as an account in the administrators group?

Yes, logged in as administrator but have tried another account that's in the administrators group (same thing happened).

I know for a fact that it will install cleanly on a freshly installed Win2K server box, but you could try this to install it...

Copy the contents of the C:\Program Files\Audio Receiver directory. regsvr32 all of the DLLs in there. From memory, mercprv.dll, realprv.dll and fileprv.dll will need registering.

Copy the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Diamond Multimedia\Audio Receiver Manager\1.0 to the new machine.

Remove the 'Adapters' and 'Units' keys. Set 'DatabaseCurrent' to zero. It should sort itself out when you start it up.

Roger,

Thanks for the reply. Yep it does install on Win2k Server and I've now installed it on my server which is servering up 48 gigs of mp3's. Here's what the problem was:- some prat (me) had been messing with COM security in dcomcnfg and had changed the default access permissions.
