trio and other server/database options - 29/09/2003 05:49

I have settled on trio as my client, however, I'm caught between two stools. My last upgrade attempts from Jreceiver 0.2.3 to 0.2.4 and 0.2.5 both failed and despite trying several things i've had to dump it. I'm now using the original ARM software but this crashes between 20k-40K songs, so i can only scan half my files. I can use Streamsicle to see all my collection and stream it to Trio but i really want to get full access to the files in Queue'n'play mode. Hence, i was wondering if it was feasable orin any plans for Trio to access other servers/databases other than ARM and Jreceiver?

thanks,
hammer

I'd have thought you'd be best off using the queue & play facility in streamsicle, and not try to load up the arm or jrec database with such a large collection. I know that doesn't answer your q, but IMHO you need to use a web front end of some description and avoid using the Rio LCD screen because in practical usability terms it's sadly lacking.

With six rio's, they should all have independant access to the music. With streamsicle, i would have to have six different streamsicles running on the pc. Sometimes its just a quick and easy selection you want to make without having pc access, so the rio (although crappy) LCD will do. Also, things like repeat, skip forward can't be done locally as well. I know its a bit like having your cake and eating it, but its something i could have done if i could have upgraded to jrec 0.2.4/5 sucessfully.

OK I see.
At what point did you get stuck with the 0.2.5 upgrade? I actually found it worked without too much bother on Win2k (and I'm no whizz)
