Netgear MP101 = Rio Receiver? - 04/11/2004 18:36

Just saw the MP101 on the Netgear site and looks very similar to the Rio Reciever. Anybody know more about it? Is it the reincarnation of the Rio Receiver?

There are many products which are similar in function to the Rio Receiver. They are not the exact same thing, but they perform a similar task.

The only product which is a true reincarnation of the Rio Receiver is a Dell Receiver. Same thing, different logo.

I think there is more to it than just the casing, but it's almost identical other than the color. The buttons are placed differently, and the IR receiver on the unit is behind the power button on the Dell instead of behind a little dark window on the Rio. So, the display board is at least different.

Ah. Didn't know that. I've only got a DDAR so I can't compare but looking now at the pics, I see your point about the buttons being in a different position.

Screen's upside-down as well.

I formerly had Rio Receivers and replaced them with Netgear MP101's. (Not giving up my Rio Car's though!) I can't see any resemblance between the Rio Receiver and the Netgear. Different outside dimensions, different user interface, different disp lay, external rather than internal power supply. Seems like a whole different animal to me (although built for the same purpose).

Sorry. We were talking about the Rio Receiver and the Dell Digital Audio Receiver. The Netgear isn't anything to do with them at all.
