tRio Jreceiver riot?? - 08/12/2004 14:44

Greetings.

I have been lurking here for a while now, and I just get more confused.

Which software do I really need?

My server is Linux based.
I want to server MP3s to Rio Receivers
Syncing would be nice but not needed
Streaming radio would be nice but not needed

That's all. I don't want a web based front end, I don't need to play any other formats, I don't want to use my PDA as a controller...I just want original functionality without the Windows part.

I have had a heck of a time getting Java installed on my RedHat 8.0 server so I would like something that isn't Java based...or help installing Java.

Thanks!
Brian

Brian,

I've just PM'd you - I think this is best done via email.

Cheers

I'm intrigued. Do you have a solution beyond yarrs? I got it to work sometime last year on mepis, but have since wiped that machine, am running gentoo, and don't quite remember how I got it to work before.

welp, got it up again with yarrs. Only thing I really miss is playlists. I don't feel I'm going to use jreceiver. Anyone have playlists working in linux using something else?

I'm about to try yarrs on my linux server as well, so I might be able to use my spare empeg as a receiver finally. Gave up long ago on getting tRio/jreceiver working on my server, and ended up putting the xpl Rionet program on my Windows running media PC instead. But since it depends on sending a custom player to the receiver, it never worked with the empeg.
