possible to play aac files? - 30/11/2003 21:59

Since iTunes came along for windows I've been buying a bunch of music. Is there any way to get AAC files to play on the rio reciever? I'm currently just using the standard software, but I'd switch servers if it allowed AAC.

Thanks.

It's not just the AAC you need to worry about. It's the fact that iTunes Music Store downloads are DRM-protected.

See this thread on the unofficial empeg BBS for why it's a problem.

Hmm. Good point, I forgot about the DRM aspect. It seems like a shame I can't do this. I purchase music at the store. I play it on my computer, and I play it on my iPod. I'd also like to be able to play it on the stereo in the other room. Doesn't seem unreasonable. I guess I could burn a CD and re-rip it. Too bad I couldn't somehow us the rio reciever as one of my 3 computers you are authorized to play stuff you buy on.

The guy who cracked the DVD encryption system already broke iTunes and AAC. That didn't take long.
