Problems with Java install

Problems with Java install - 18/01/2004 17:30

I'm going slowly mad trying to install Java on a Fuji Point 510 tablet running
Win 98. I want to use this as a portable controller for my Rios (5 x Rio, ARM v1.04, Trio 0.1.4alpha4, Win2k on "server"). It SEEMS to install, but (1) I cannot get the console to
display by clicking on the Sun Java Console option in the tools menu
of Internet Explorer (v6), also (2) when I try to load http://192.168.0.2:8090/trio-applet.htm
it comes up with a grey rectangle and "class trio.applet.Trio.Applet not found" in the
status bar.
It sees the html on the local machine but fails to find the required
file(s).
Typing java -version at a DOS command prompt comes up with the
relevant version of Java (1.4.2_03).
I have a laptop running exacly the same version of Windows, IE and
Java, and that works fine.
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA
Nick

I had the same problem with a Windows ME machine. Sorry to say I never got it working. Instead, I got a new machine with XP and have had no issues. You may check the Java sites, as I remember there was some discussion about the problem occurring to other people with other apps, but I gave up when they proved to be just as frustrated and without an answer as me. Sorry I can't help. Good luck.
