Trio 0.1.5 SSDP problem - 24/08/2004 08:42

Paul,

Cheers for the update - I've been looking forward to it. A couple of general comments before I ask for help! - I'm using flac files fine with 0.1.4 alpha5 over wireless - I was experiencing issues which were related to my (single) unit picking up a different IP address each time I restarted my pc. I believe that trio was trying to send music to these ‘phantom’ units thus exceeding the bandwidth available on the wireless network.
In the absence of a DHCP server that I can make a reservation on, I got round this by creating a trio.xlm with no units specified then, using the startup batch file, I overwrote trio.xlm each time with the blank one.
Flac plays fine, so the bandwidth is there in the 802.11b network to play lossless files (at least on a single unit).

Anyway - onto my query - I made a few changes last night to my pc - First I installed XP service pack 2 - Trio/jrec 1.4 worked fine still. Then I upgraded to trio 1.5 and this seemed to break it. The Rio boots fine but I get the SSDP discovery error on the LCD when I select artist or album from the menu. I tried the troubleshooting step of changing the broadcast address (my machine is multihomed) but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Cheers in advance

Chris,

Firstly, on the dhcp reservation thing, tRio now uses the player's MAC addresses instead of their ip addresses and so you can probably do away with the overwriting step. Give it a try and if it works I'll add it to the "what's new" list of sourceforge.

On the ssdp failure problem, please let me know:
1. what broadcast address you specified
2. what your trio and jreceiver ip addresses are
3. what your subnet mask is
A copy of your trio.xml would also be good.

Cheers

Cheers for the assistance.

The Trio and Jrec IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a standard Mask of 255.255.255.0
I specified 192.168.0.255 after having initial problems but it still doesnt work. I've attched the trio.xml file

Cheers once again

Chris,

I've had a look and can't see anything obviously wrong with what you've done. The only other thing it might be is if you haven't installed the Rio Driver (http://jreceiver.sourceforge.net/rio/jrec-install-rio.html ) part of the JReceiver install - but this seems unlikely.

And so I guess it'll have to be back to the old-fashioned way. Shutdown tRio, edit trio.xml and change <server> entry for jrec so that: url="http://192.168.0.1:8080" (you shouldn't need the /jrec_serv/servlet/RPC2 suffix anymore).

Cheers

Using the old fashioned way works - i'll do some more digging to see if it's anything to do with my particular setup.... I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

If it's any consolation I could never get the ssdp discovery to work either so if you find a solution please post it. Otherwise the "old fashioned way" is definately not a problem for me.
