Is it posisble to modify the head unit menu system to include the "mark" feature, so the remote is not required?

It's in version 2.0 of the software. It's under the "bookmarks" menu (couldn't think of a better place to put it).

You mentioned in another thread about a bug in 2.0 beta 11 that is fixed with the hijack kernel. Should I install the hijack kernel, or wait until I have a problem to install hijack?

Install b11 and hijack, you'll never regret it. The problem ("stuck jiffies") is a pain if you run into it, and the many features of hijack are worth it anyways.

Should I just load up the one with the most features? Looks like there are 3 or 4 different images...

There is only one correct image for your player. The rest are either not for your player, or they are sourcecode, or they are patchcode, or something like that. Read the descriptions carefully.

Note that I'm assuming you're talking about Hijack. If you're talking about the empeg software, then read carefully through this for information on how to upgrade to 2.0 beta 11.
