Tuner Kit - 06/04/2003 10:08

I have posted before in trying to figure out what i may have done wrong when putting the tuner together. I cannot find anything wrong with what i have done. I do know however that the green LED does not go on when plugged in. Interestingly there is voltage at the positive post on the LED but on the negative there seems to be a ground problem as I get voltage with a multimeter if i touch the positive end on the LED and a common ground anywhere on the tuner. So, I am led to believe that the problem occurs from the negative end on the LED backwards. But two resistors back from the LED is the large chip and I don't know what occurs in it. Mlord told me to post some pictures to see if anyone can figure out what i may have done wrong.
Note that there is one black plastic rivet missing because it was misformed out of the box, but that shouldn't affect anything. Also note the antenna is not hooked up in the picture as the center wire bent off after inspecting the tuner over and over.
If anyone has any idea or if somehow I missed something stupid that I did not see please let me know. Also, I do not have pictures of the backsides of the boards included because I wasn't using my own camera and they didn't come out. (I have tried 3 different digital camera's at work and this was the best i could do as everyone wanted to take the pictures themselves and had no idea that I needed a pefect picture. Hard to tell people that their camera is not good enough.) Additionally I have went over the backs of the boards in detail and I am 99.999% positive there are no shorts or other mistakes/damages.
Thanks for your help.

ISTR that the BBS doesn't like spaces in attachments' filenames. So that's probably it. Unless it was over 200kB, which seems unlikely.

No, I have not messed with it in a while. Basically I have a $200 item sitting in a box with my riocar stuff. I suspect there is something wrong with the large chip, but cannot verify. It has taken a back seat to other things I have been doing because I was getting nowhere with it. So I haven't touched it in months. I remember a post a long time ago saying that they would hate to ever see one not ever get put to use because it doesn't work. But thats where I am with it.
I guess, worst comes to worst I would like to send it to pcats and see if he can diagnose (or) fix it. I would hate to have it never get used. Well, let me know if you find any news. At this point it's in limbo for me.

I'm in the same position as you. My tuner never worked and I can't find a solution. Maybe someone has some news. It's very dificult for me to send it back or to any of the people who assemble them cause I live in Brazil. It will be too expensive to do that. Thanks anyway. I will let you know if I can find something.
