D-Link DWL-810+ Wireless Bridge

D-Link DWL-810+ Wireless Bridge - 22/07/2003 20:39

Works out of the box with the empeg & zero configuation.

I use a fixed ethernet address and did not have to anything except:
1. Plug in D-Link DWL-810+
2. Connect supplied ethernet cable (seems to be straight through)
3. Plug in empeg.

Emplode & Jemplode both found & could sync no problem. All the usual toys (empegVNC, charcoalgrey99's pages etcetera) worked perfectly.

My wireless AP is a SMC 7004AWBR.

It's a nice little unit for $60-$75 (Thanks Rob!). I'll post some details after I get it in the car & also some details on the 12V --> 5V regulated power supply I posted about earlier.

It also worked dandy with DHCP enabled on the empeg.

Sounds good! I think I should have bought some now. Oh well... I'll be on the lookout for another deal on them.

Rob,

If you find a good deal please let us know. I am also interested in one.

Here's a photo of it next to my brand new dock and the ipaq running VNC over the WLAN.

Is this like enough?

Edit: found it for less

Hmm. It's certainly different looking with that channel display and button. What's the chance we're going to see painted WGA11B's in action films as remote triggers now?

Re: D-Link DWL-810+ Wireless Bridge - 24/07/2003 04:23

Well, I assume the display would count down and the button would stop the count

...except where the really sneaky villain has wired it differently so that it accelerates the countdown.

I prefer the ones where the countdown moves much slower when no one's looking at it.

Ok, I've got the vncserver on my empeg and on my ipaq 5545. However on Zeke's picture he's got it rotated 90 degrees. Any idea how I do that?

Ezekiel - What is running on the iPaq? I don't know how to setup the VNC stuff but I would definitely want to get this setup going with mine.

I've attached the executable Pocket PC vnc viewer. You'll probably be able to find a newer one available someplace.
