iTunes, Empeg, jEmplode - 10/11/2003 16:37

hi folks,
i use iTunes/G4 TiBook/OS X.2.8 to rip/organize all of my mp3s. I keep a linux box on my home LAN which acts as a multimedia server (200Gb HD x 2, 80Gb HD), and i nfs-mount the 80Gb drive from my G4 TiBook and use that as my iTunes library. works very well.
i finally got round to installing my empeg in my Mustang, and love it. now, for the questions:

-jEmplode for OS X sometimes doesn't "see" genres assigned via iTunes. anybody else see this? how to fix?
-i try to keep my empeg library in sync w/ my iTunes library, but sometimes don't sync them until i've added a number of songs/CDs to iTunes. what's the best method of synchronisation in this scenario?
-anybody else using iTunes to organize music?

Does iTunes save things in a folder structure such as artist/album? If so, click here.

ahhhh...bless you, anthony! i realize the error of my ways, now. i had done the following:
-the drive on my Linux box is called "iTunes"...or rather, the share is called "iTunes".
-i created a playlist on the empeg called "iTunes", and copied the contents of the share "iTunes" to the empeg playlist "iTunes".
-this worked ok, except it was a bit stupid at times when i was trying to update.
-i'll give this "FAQ" thing a try...

well, crap! tried to re-deploy my empeg database last night. over 20Gb had to be transferred from my master library to the empeg via ethernet. this morning, an error message in jEmplode: couldn't sync (can't remember the rest of the message except "couldn't add (song name)").
so, i quit jEmplode (OS X), restarted jEmplode, tried to sync again. this time, jEmplode gets stuck at "Locking UI", then times out with a "can't sync" error message. I look at the empeg, and it is spinning is sync arrows across the screen like normal, only it isn't syncing. hell, it isn't doing anything. so, i reboot via HiJack, and get "no hard disc found. contact support".
So, i'm checking the forums for that keyword phrase. crap!
oh, and i did see another error message this morning, something about FID 2 not existing on the empeg.

You should be checking the FAQ for that keyword phrase first, and falling back on the forum if the FAQ doesn't yield an answer. The result of such a search will net you this:

Why does it say 'No hard disk found contact support'?

yes, yes, yes! that's where i went...second. i found that exact link in my initial search of the forum. maybe this is happening because i've been entertaining the idea of replacing my single 30Gb HD with two 80Gb drives...

Are you suggesting that your RioCar is beginning to read your mind?
