Lost many playlists and songs !!!! - 06/02/2004 11:13

Hi,
When restarting my player, I saw it doing a "rebuild database" and when I've started my Emplode I received a lot of "Initializing Warnings of Playlist lengths" and I saw that my playlists were completely scrumbled. When doing searches, I can't even find some songs anymore !!
Is there a way to find back my previous database organisation ?
P.S. : What I did just before was changing the field "khttpd_port=82" to 80 in my config.ini file with my Emplode but I didn't synchronise it. Could this be at the origin of this mess ?
Years of work are in the air. Is there an angel who could help me ?

Delete the database files, and do two more syncs. And call me in the morning.. (when my phone is OFF).

Check on this possibility first, then check to see if you are having disk drive trouble. If both of those things are OK, then check and see if you get e2fsck errors at the shell prompt, and finally, as Mark said, see if rebuilding the databases by hand fixes it.

Thanks for such a prompt answer.
Could you confirm if I have a disk problem (see here after) ?
If yes, I suppose that I have to open the box and check for the cables. And how can I see if the second disk is completely out of order ?

I think this might be an indicator of the problem. Also, I think that your boot up sequence is showing that only the first disk drive is being detected. So yeah, if it's a two-drive player, then it looks like one of the drives might not be booting up. Time to open it up and check the cables, the jumper, and the IDE header. Also make sure you've got standoff washers on the drives and loctite the screws while you're in there. Make sure to carefully follow the disk upgrade guide for the disassembly instructions.

You're my angel Tony. Domo Arrigato, Mr. Riocaro.
I've opened the box. Didn't see anything special but plugged out the disk cable and plugged it in again. Closed everything and restarted the player. It found back the second drive and I found back all my playlists and song without any error message from Emplode.
Ouffffffffffff.
Let's have a dram of single malt to celebrate and let's try again to put this http port back to 80 in config.ini. This must be the source of the problem I've posted in the Programming thread to make your EmpegFace work. I don't remember why I've put this once on 82 but ...
