Suddenly Crosstalk - 08/08/2000 01:37

I haven't installed the Mk2 yet ('cause it's currently on the way to me) but I have prepared my car for the Mk2 3 or 4 months ago.

And since about a week or two I have some crosstalk from the engine on the speakers. I don't know where it comes from and why it hasn't been there from the beginning. Maybe I have something like a ground loop - I'll try to find out as soon as I install the Mk2.

But if I can't find it - what else could it be? What could I do against it? Would a capacitor help and where should I best place it?

Possibly one of the RCA leads you installed is now touching the car metalwork and picking up the ground differential between the amp and where it touches the metal.

This is exactly what I thought already. I'll have a look at it, thanks!

I usually wrap the RCA's with insulation tape to prevent this kind of thing happening.

Tee, your original post was a little unclear as to whether you're getting the problem with a mark1 or a mark2. If it's a Mark1, please read this message and its follow-up.

I don't have the problem with any Mk.. I HAD the problem with my factory headunit. (I've connected an amp so the sound goes out from the headunit into the amp and then to the speakers. =preparation for the Mk2)

But I've already solved this - Getting my Mk2 yesterday and installing it into the car I figured out what the problem was - it was a partially broken cable on the RCA-jack feeding the amplifier. That was causing the problem.
Now - with the Mk2 (instead of a really cheap tapedeck) the sound is great!!! (I already replaced the factory speakers (they were made with a plastic-chassis!!!) - so Tony - please don't slam the door again !

Thanks for all help on that (I also did the insulation-tape-thing to make for sure nothing bad can happen to the sound)
