Sounds like your home power supply is either a non-standard that isn't up to the job of getting the disks rolling, or it is fried.

When you say it "won't boot", how far does it get? Anywhere? Have you got a boot log for us to look at?

thanks for the quick response

the home power supply is the one that is shipped with the player... i have a second player and it boots that one fine. As far as it "won't book", once I plug the power in the light in the upper right corner blinks on and that's it. One blink and it turns off like there is no juice.. unlike my other player where the light continues to blink every so often

Hmmm... The second player boots fine with that power supply... It could be the AC power connector (or something along that power feed) is bad. Look for a bad fuse or signs of damage along the AC power circuit.

Do you see anything at all from a boot log? If it is a bad fuse or a physical problem, I would suspect not.

I'll bet on a suspicious power supply too. Does the second player have one drive vs the first player having two drives?

Spinning up of the drives is definitely when the power supply is stressed the most. I've had a power supply that sometimes struggled to spin the drives up but once it got them going it would run fine for hours.

Equally well, it is really easy to damage the DC power connector on the back of the player. I would suggest that you carefully inset the plug, and move it carefully to see if there is a particular position that the thing makes good contact and allows it to boot. If so, then you will probably need a replacement connector put onto the main board.

I'll see if i could get a log tonight.....

both player have 1 drive in it...

I'll see if i could find the sweet spot on the connector if there is one...
