Ping but no http/ftp/telnet - 18/01/2005 20:15

Hey guys,

I have a Mk2a running hijack 413. Works perfectly, but this morning I have been trying to get tot he web interface with no luck. I can ping the IP, I can use emplode and look at the Db, but I cant http/ftp or telnet (yes the app is installed). The hijack spash still shows on boot so it appears to be loading correctly.

Anyone seen this behaviour before?

A couple of possible things.

1. The player thinks it is in DC/Car mode so therefore has the HTTP/FTP features disabled.

2. Firewall software running on your PC is blocking that access.

Try those first. If they don't work, come back and tell us.

OK, it isnt in DC mode, and I have [hijack]
dc_servers=1 anyway. Don't have any firewall stuff. Unfortunately Im at work so I dont have a serial to snoop on whats going on at boot :|

Might have to wait till I get home and see what happens.

That would have been my next diagnostic.

Glad to see things are getting sorted.

Turns out that our admin hadnt excluded our mailservers IP from the DCHP pool and I was lucky enough to get it, so there was much IP packet confusion, but luckliy the mailserver didnt seem to care much.

Duh!
