New computer won't recognize Empeg

New computer won't recognize Empeg - 06/03/2005 19:12

New computer, loaded all current versions of software (Emplode, Jempeg, USB Driver). Empeg is current up to the latest Hijack Kernel. Jempeg will not find the player on either serial or usb. Emplode sees the player, however will not sychronize with it, and produces two different hex code errors. One is not recognized in the online database and the other comes up as "No Anode". Empeg still works in the car. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The error decoder isn't 100% accurate since we don't know what some of the player specific error codes mean. The "No anode" error doesn't sound correct for one. I need to specify which types of code are valid actually...

What are the errors anyway? Emplode can't do anything even if you're plugged in via serial??

USB problems are common. Did you read the "Read Me" notes with the 2.00final download? They have specific instructions on getting USB working.

Serial ports can't be shared. If another program is running that is using the serial port (any empeg software, hyperterminal, some Palm applications, etc) empllode won't be able to use the serial port (and you won't be able to connect).

Use the original Emplode instead of Jemplode, and please read this.

Also make sure that your player is properly upgraded to version 2.0 final firmware.

When trying to open the player database, the error is 0xc0041835 when using serial, and 0xc0041837 when using usb.

I am using the RIOXDRV.sys driver (I run XP). Is there a way to ensure that all the programs that could be sharing the serial access. It is not something that I typically use.

How does one check the version of the player firmware?

The "About" menu on the player itself.

Car player is Version 2.0
Emplode is Version 2.0
XP USB Driver is installed
Hijack Kernel is installed

Using the logo editor, the computer will connect to the empeg.

Give ethernet a shot, it would be interesting to see if the problem is USB-only.
