AC adaptor not working? - 20/05/2005 02:00

My empeg boots up when I have it plugged into the car deck, but when i plug AC adaptor power in the house it does not work? Anywhere I can get a replacement adaptor? Does radioshack sell one?

Have you clicked on the link "Empeg FAQ" at the top of the page and use the search feature? Try "AC power supply". It's not a special adapter, so you don't need to get anything special as long as it meets the right specifications.

The detailed specifications for getting a replacement AC adapter are here.

The current on this one is kinda overkill... but it would probably last forever too Link

I don't suggest getting one from Radio Shack. I had a 12V 1A unit from them that would cause the display to cut out when the hard drive spun-up. It's also needlessly bulky.

I second that ! I work at radio shack and thier power supplies suck.

mine went intermittent - occasionally I'd whack it off my desk and it would start working again, but I got sick of that. I'm now using an AC adapter from a HP Omnibook laptop, found at a Value Village store.

If you can't find one at a thrift shop, i'd grab something like a Cincon TR15 - http://www.mouser.com/catalog/622/1399.pdf - $13 and it's far better than anything you'd find at rat shack.
