Big Disk Upgrade

Big Disk Upgrade - 13/10/2007 01:34

I'm currently using a 160GB drive w. my empeg, and will be upgrading to a 250GB drive. I originally used the big disk builder to prepare the 160GB drive. and I am considering using gparted to move and expand the partition on to the new drive. Does the big disk builder create the inode count based on the size of the drive, and would I possibly run into any inode limitations if I don't re-image the new larger drive. I'm using a 32MB empeg, so I won't have problems w. my TOC size.

Thanks for the help.

The 250 gig drive is standard IDE?

Cuz the empeg won't take one of these 250 gig sata notebook drives.

Hm, some more googling indicates that the 2.5" IDE 250 Gig animal *does* exist.

Just make sure that's what you're ordering.

Huh. Interesting. I only see one, the WD Scorpio (WD2500BEVE), but it does seem to exist and is right at $200. Not bad.

That's right. WD makes the drive in both SATA and ATA-6. This is the only (2.5-inch) PATA drive, and possibly the last, that has moved past the160GB drives.

That tiny little 10mb/sec pipeline (and 1MB/sec HD interface) is looking smaller and smaller now..
