Stuck player (stuck playlist)

Stuck player (stuck playlist) - 10/02/2009 18:54

Hi

I have this problem where my player boots and the front panel is locked out. Also the Ethernet and USB do not work.

I've had this before, the solution is to use the serial port and clear the playlist over RS232.

Thing is, I can't find a FAQ containing the RS232 settings (4800 and 115kbps are mentioned in other posts)

I also can't find the command to clear the playlist in the Serial Port FAQ. Can one of you Large Hadron Colanders [sic] help please?

115200, 8N1, No Flow Control

but strange that network and usb do not work... but some guru might explain that

do you have the emplode software?

Instructions on how to make the player start with an empty playlist are here:

How do I stop it from trying to play a bad track?

This sub-links to the necessary serial port connection instructions.

By the way, your symptoms aren't necessarily consistent with the the behavior of a bad track. But those steps are worth a try. If doing that procedure doesn't help, come back and we'll do more diagnostics.

Re: Stuck player (stuck playlist) - 11/02/2009 01:49

If a bad track/playlist is causing the player software to crash, then yes, the front panel, usb, and ethernet (emplode) interfaces won't work either.

But if the player had Hijack installed, then the ethernet and Hijack Menu would still be functional. For that matter, the automatic crash-recovery in Hijack might even auto-fix the problem for him.

Cheers

Serial connection to the empeg requires a 3-wire serial cable (Tx, Rx, GND), with Tx/Rx crossed (simple null modem), and 115200 8N1.

Install the car2 developer image, plus hijack.
Then try again. Best source for that is here.

Re: Stuck player (stuck playlist) - 13/02/2009 13:06

Thanks that has got it unstuck.

Is it safe to go back to V3 a11 hijack for my FLACs?

Re: Stuck player (stuck playlist) - 13/02/2009 13:16

Sure, but keep Hijack on there:

car2_v3a11_hijack.upgrade.
