Replacement AC Power Adapter for Rio Empeg Car unit - 11/06/2012 20:01

I have a Rio Empeg Car unit and I have lost its AC power adapter. I was wondering if someone could link me a replacement power adapter that will work with my Rio unit. The AC adapter port on the unit has the following written above it in case differs between different models of the unit:
11-16VDC 1A Neg. Ground

Thanks for the assistance.

Are you in the US? Any big electronics shop, e.g. Fry's, should be able to recommend you an adapter based on that information. (It is the same for all Empegs.) The adapter also needs the connector to be center-positive, 2.1mm internal diameter, 5.5mm external diameter -- but that's a fairly standard setup, and the sorts of adapters that come with a little collection of interchangeable plugs would include one that's correct. Here's one in the UK, but similar products exist the world over. More details in the FAQ.

Thank you for the information. I am in the U.S. I missed the AC Power Supply info in the FAQ. I'll look online to find a compatible power adapter. Thanks again.

Should you have one, some aftermarket laptop power supplies can be set to 12v and will have more than enough amps.

A lot of small wifi-routers use the right kind of power adapters too -- many D-Link and Linksys models in particular.

I use the original IBM Thinkpad PSU's, they work fine and are built to stay plugged in all day if needed. They were particularly handy for me as I had a few spare.
