What does Error 19 mean when Linux is trying to mount a hard disk?

I don't know for sure, but it does sound familiar. Maybe I have seen it before. I think it means that the hard disk is already mounted.

errno 19 is ENODEV. mount(2) states that ENODEV is returned when the filesystem is not configured in the kernel.

Tony,

You're probably sitting 19 inches from the unit. Try moving closer when you power it up :-)

Actually, I'm told that the error 19 is a red herring, in my particular situation, it's normal to see that message.
