Can anyone confirm the long sleep timeout?

Can anyone confirm the long sleep timeout? - 18/10/2001 19:23

In this post, Mrmunsell says that emplode 2.0 allows larger values for the sleep timeout than in previous versions. Can anyone confirm that this actually works on the player and isn't just cosmetic in Emplode?

If true, this would help those trying to do wireless synchs while leaving the player in the car.

Wow, I figured someone would have confirmed or denied this by now. Well, I wasn't able to yet.

This weekend I dismantled by stereo system for a minor overhaul and it will be at least a week before it is together again (I don't even have a center console for the moment :).

All I could find so far is that emplode accepts a setting of 600 seconds (my desired setting, which I don't think was allowed before), then I can sync the player, exit emplode, restart emplode, and after emplode retrieves the player settings, it indicates a setting of 600. So the player seems to take the setting, but I don't know if the player is actually using the setting......

(I believe the previous limit was 120 or so.... but I am not really even sure since I never used it as it was too short for me)

I've been using a value of 600s since I got my Mk.IIa, maybe longer. Certainly this isn't new in 2.0.

Ironically, I've since changed it to 5s to try to track down some of the boot-up bugs. My original intent with the 600s timeout had to do with 802.11b syncs to the car, though I haven't implemented that yet.

Hmm, maybe that is why no one else responded to this then :). So the player seems to obey the setting of 600?

The last time I tried a higher setting I had a MKII, and I think I was using 1.02 emplode/player software.

This was the first time I tried this since then.... now I have 2.00 and a MKIIa (my player was replaced due to a mainboard problem).

I doubt the longer setting has anything to do with going from a MKII to a MKIIa (?), so maybe this was a feature of 1.03 (although I don't recall seeing anything about that in the release notes for 1.03).

I have been using a value of 300 ever since the value was configurable from within emplode and the empeg does indeed obey it. I have never had any problems with it.

Okay, but 300 is only five minutes. I'm talking about really long times, like hours. For instance, if you wanted to leave it in the garage and connect via 802.11b in the middle of the night. Can anyone get it to stay in standby mode for hours after the ignition shutoff?

I really don't think there should be a problem, until you get to things like 2^31 seconds.

We're still running a test unit with that setting, but we won't know if it worked as expected for another 68 years.

I had mine on 7200 a while back. I can't confirm that it turned of exactly after two hours but I could go shopping and to a friends place and it would wake up from standby as I'd expect.
