Additional Drives - 13/09/1999 14:37

Has anyone added an extra drive to their empeg yet? If so did you keep with the Toshiba's, did you have any problems etc.....

Cheers
Steve

I haven't opened the empeg up yet, not wanting to be the first to invalidate my warranty ;-) I just wanted to know if anyone else has......

I'd like to mention at this point that the docking sled has quite badly scraped the "do not remove stickers" to the point where it looks like I've opened the case (And I assure you I haven't. You can tell, 'cause the screws aren't messed up =). Also, the sides of the empeg have been deeply scratched by the studs in the sled. In fact, it's getting difficult to remove the empeg from the sled, as the studs grip into the rear side vent holes..
Has this happened to anyone else..

Yes I've got a similar problem with the stickers!

I need to take my sled out and bend the lugs about so
that when i bend them down they dont arch up and scratch
the empeg. Part of the problem is that as the sled is made
from such good quality steel its not easy to bend it about.

Perhaps a piece of clear tape over the stickers to prevent their deterioration?

Hmmm, I think with the current clearance the tape would be pulled off even quicker, taking the sticker with it..
Nice idea though... =)

Even though my stickers aren't getting chewed up. I do have some nice shinny lines in my unit that corespond with the studs in the docking bay.
But it looks like I can atleast bend the top studs up to allow the unit to move a little easier. It appears that the bay holds the unit just a bit to tightly. But I guess thats better than having it fall out on a steep hill.

It's the side ones that are causing me the problems, as they stick in the vent holes towards the back...

I'll have to take a file or something to the side studs.. =)
