Just a couple of quick ones.
1. Does the new tuner work on the mk1 ?
2. Would there be any advantage in using it on a mk1 ?

No, the Mark1 has a built-in tuner, and no connections for an external module.

The external tuner module only works with the Mark2 and the Rio Car.

Compared to the Mark1, it is a better device, it gets better reception, and it is AM/FM instead of FM-only.
