IRDA / normal remote interference? - 29/01/2002 10:28
If IRDA is enabled as is described in plenty of posts on the BBS, does it interfere with normal usage of the remote? ie: Is it either one or the other IRDA or the player using the IR port?
Just pondering the palmos - empeg IRDA communication issues, and trying to figure out if it'd nuke the remote control or not.

I asked this one a week or two ago over in the Programming forum. See the follow-ups for the skinny on how IrDA affects the remote.

For whatever it's worth, I got irda up and running, but the range is on the order of 10 centimeters or less. It took a couple of attempts to figure the range limitation.
empeg:/proc/net/irda# cat discovery
IrLMP: Discovery log:

Hmmm ... although, if one were using an Ir Dongle placed near the f/p ... hmmm ...

10cm... Hmm. That's probably enough for what I'd do with it, I'd be mounting my PDA right near the center console. I haven't had a chance to mess with it since my last attempts though. Thanks for the info.
