Gapless playback without --nogap encoding. - 30/01/2002 07:09

from Mark Taylor on the lame-dev mailing list:

<blockquote>
LAME 3.91 puts a tag on each mp3 file with the beginning and ending offsets, so that a decoder can trim the output so it is the same size as the original .wav. But I dont think any decoders can yet do this. 'lame --decode' will remove the leading padding, but we haven't but in the code to remove the trailing padding yet.
</blockquote>

Does the empeg recognise these offsets (I think no)? If not, are there plans to support them? I can imagine that this is something the HSX would also like.

The decoder is written by ARM, but im sure they might be interested in something like this. This is really cool!
