How are people using IR translate in Hijack? My intention was to use one of the new Sony Wireless Rotary Remotes and duplicate the functions of the Wired Remote through the tuner module. No wires. Is this to lowly (i.e. not worthy) a use for IR translate?

It's what it was designed for. To translate IR signals from various (compatible) remotes.. However, with anything that lets you reprogram buttons, you can do neat things with it too..

Yeah, that's the idea. You can probably get Hijack's IR-Translate to make those Sony buttons do whatever you want them to do.

If by "sony wireless rotary remote", you mean the Sony RM X5S, then you can't use it with the empeg according to this thread.

Actually I think the jury is officially still out, but the consensus seems to be that it probably won't work. I don't read that anyone's actually tried it yet..

Since the 5XS will not work, are people using IR Translate in a home docking setting... forgetting about the button translate portion.

Sure! I use it to reprogram keys on the Rio remote, and create macros to simplify complex functions like changing EQ presets...

i can see that. is there any interest in or way on the bbs to post people's config files with the IR sections? Maybe a little description. It would probably only be useful for common remotes (like the RIO or Kenwood).
